2016 Lincoln Continental Price… – The Continental nameplate has always been Lincoln’s crown jewel but since the early 2000 this disappeared in the favor of the MKZ brand which stuck with the marque until now. Not too long ago at the New York Auto show though, Lincoln finally released a successor to the original called simply the Lincoln Continental 2016. As you would expect, its full size luxury sedan status means that it is just as luxurious as the MKZ but thanks to its name and design, Lincoln should finally market it as a more premium car than before.
2016 Lincoln Continental Concept
The concept of 2016 Lincoln Continental shown at New York is quite drastic in appearance and even though it is a Lincoln, it shows us a new design scheme which has never been seen before on any Lincoln model. However, this might be familiar to some because the car does resemble a Bentley both in proportions and also in general design and because of that the general designer from Bentley even posted an official address to Lincoln because he thinks their Continental is just too similar to the Flying Spur. However, we think that even the car looks a bit like a Bentley, it does have its unique flair to it, so there is nothing wrong with that.
Engine Horsepower and Transmission of 2016 Lincoln Continental
The engine which is going to power Lincoln’s new flagship is an all new 3 liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 which has been developed from the 3.5 liter engine. This should be good for more than 400 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque which is more than enough for a luxury car. It will also employ a brand new 9 speed automatic gearbox which is most likely going to send all of its power to an all wheel drive system. This is because the Continental has a very big chance to use the same old front wheel drive platform which is a bit of a shame but it was expected considering Ford doesn’t really have any other rear wheel drive platform expect that found on the Mustang. This shouldn’t be a problem though considering the all wheel drive system which should offer it quite a nice driving character.
A hybrid has also been rumored, but unlike the usual it will most likely get a 2 liter EcoBoost unit coupled to a pair of electric motors in order to offer over 30 MPG on average and at least 300 horsepower.
Exterior and Interior Specs of 2016 Lincoln Continental
On the interior, the 2016 Lincoln Continental is going to offer a luxurious experience to say the least. Unlike its predecessor, it will get only four individual seats which are going to be adjustable, both in the front and back. All of these are going to be both heated and ventilated and thanks to the infotainment system, none of its passengers is going to get bored. The leather upholstery is going to be standard and so is going to be the quad-automatic climate control system, a first for Lincoln. There are going to be options on the car such as a different upholstery for the doors, or even a massive moon-roof which will fully open in two stages.
Its exterior on the other hand is a bit of a glimpse to the future of the company. It features a new front grille which is completely different than that of the current models as well as a new general design scheme which makes the car a bit more mature and also quite a bit better to look at.
2016 Lincoln Continental – Price
The showroom release date has been set some time at the end of 2015 or early 2016 when it will come at a base price of around $75,000 making it almost 50% more expensive than the previous MKZ which is quite a big leap. For the price the 2016 Lincoln Continental is not going to be only more powerful but also a lot more luxurious and also a lot more comfortable.
